Serhiy began his football career at the Dynamo Kyiv Youth Sports School. He later joined Maccabi Haifa, where he went on to win the Israel State Cup.

In 1999, Serhiy returned to Dynamo, playing for Dynamo-2, with whom he became a First League Champion.

He later played for Vorskla Poltava, and in the final year of his career in 2003, he joined Metalist Kharkiv.

Following the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhiy enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed near Bakhmut as a result of artillery shelling.
