Senior Soldier Ihor Burenko, call sign "Buriy," was killed in battle on June 30, 2024, near the city of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. He was only 34 years old.

Ihor was born in the village of Rozhnivka, Chernihiv region. From 1996 to 2006, he studied at the local secondary school. From a young age, Ihor’s life was closely connected to football, a passion encouraged by his father, who always dreamed that his son would become a football player. Ihor actively participated in competitions, playing as part of the “Temp” team in the Ichnyansk district football championship, where they became champions of the Ichnia region. He also played for the Rozhnivka football team, “Rozhnivka-Agro.”

After completing the 10th grade, Ihor enrolled at the Brovary Higher School of Physical Culture and later studied at the National University of State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, earning a degree in finance and credit. While a student, he won a silver medal at the Ukrainian Football Championship and earned the title of candidate for master of sports. He also helped the team “MKK-Sinkom” become district champions in 2011 and the team “Dynamo-Ichnia” win the district championship and cup in 2013.

Ihor served in military unit A1479 and was later assigned as a firefighter, mastering the profession of military firefighter. Since May 15, 2024, he served in the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade as an assistant grenadier shooter. Throughout his service, he continued to play football and earn awards.

At home, Ihor’s parents, sister, wife, son Stanislav, and daughter Liuba awaited their defender.
