Vasyl Solovey was born in the village of Velyki Zahaitsi (formerly Shumsk Raion, now part of the Velykodederkalska community). He studied at the local Velykozahaitsi School and played as a midfielder for the village football team.

Vasyl was drafted for military service in December 2022. He served as the sergeant major of the mechanized company in the mechanized battalion of military unit A4667.

He was killed on June 15, 2023, as a result of mortar shelling near the settlement of Yampil in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region.
