In 2004, Yaroslav began his educational journey by enrolling in the first grade of Oril School No. 2. There, he not only gained knowledge but also developed the best qualities of a citizen, actively participating in the school’s sports life. Yaroslav was a bright and multifaceted individual, passionate about various sports, excelling particularly in football and volleyball, to which he dedicated much time and energy.

After successfully graduating from school in 2015, Yaroslav enrolled in the Kharkiv Higher Professional School of Construction. However, in March 2016, feeling the call of his heart, he decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect the eastern borders of the country. This marked the beginning of his combat journey as part of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He made this decision with conviction, fully aware of the importance of the struggle for Ukraine’s independence.

In 2021, Yaroslav went abroad for work for a short time. In January 2022, he returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and by February 2022, as part of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, he was actively involved in the defense of Kharkiv, helping to thwart the Russian invasion.

Yaroslav proved himself a true hero and loyal son of Ukraine. He participated in numerous military operations where he repeatedly demonstrated professionalism and dedication to his homeland.

On June 29, 2022, Yaroslav Hennadiyovych Tsurkov heroically fell during active hostilities in the settlement of Rubizhne, Kharkiv region. He became a symbol of dedication and indomitable will.

For his courage, loyalty, and patriotism during his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yaroslav was awarded certificates for 1st place in the sniper pair competitions of the Land Forces Command, and 3rd place in the sniper pair competitions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also received medals “Participant of ATO,” “For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation,” “For the Defense of Avdiivka,” and “For the Defense of the Hero City of Kharkiv.”

Among his most notable awards are the Orders “For Courage” of the 3rd, 2nd, and posthumously, 1st degrees.
