From 2005 to 2016, Mykola studied at Chernigiv General Education School. He is remembered as fair, sincere, kind, friendly, and always smiling. Mykola was a member of the football team "Niva" of the Chernigiv village council and received multiple certificates and commendations for his participation.
After graduating, he attended Kharkiv Vocational Technical School No. 6, where he trained as a universal machinist. He worked at the "Svіtlo Shakhtarya" factory in Kharkiv and later as a sales consultant at the "ROST" store.
From 2019 to 2021, Mykola served in the military. During this time, he completed dog handler training in Zolochiv and earned a dog handler certificate. He took part in the Joint Forces Operation in Sloviansk, Donetsk region. On May 14, 2020, he was promoted to junior sergeant, and on November 5, 2020, he was awarded the "Combatant" medal.
In April 2021, after completing his service, Mykola was discharged to the reserve and returned to Kharkiv, where he engaged in musical activities and worked as a security guard.
Since February 27, 2022, he volunteered to support the military alongside his friends. On May 10, 2022, Mykola joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He served as a junior sergeant in the 1st machine-gun squad of the 2nd rifle company of the 17th Separate Rifle Battalion at the Slobidskyi Operational and Tactical Command in Kharkiv. His service locations included the villages of Husarivka, Protopopivka, Zavgorodnie, and Nova Serpukhivka in Balakliia district, as well as the village of Pitrivske in Izium district.
On August 11, 2022, at 19:20, Mykola Hryhorovych Tumanov was killed by enemy mortar shelling while carrying out a combat mission near Novo-Husarivka in the Balakliia district of Kharkiv region, sustaining fatal injuries.
